A WOMAN GAVE BIRTH TO TRIPLET AFTER TWO MONTHS DELIVERED THE FOURTH CHILD

By Ubong Etuk

This is a very special family I celebrated my Christmas and New year with, to others, they see them as a neglected, abandoned, abused, segregated, chastise, labelled and a cursed family, but to me, I see in them passion, love, future leaders, purposes and unity...Mr. Itoro Aniedi and wife is one of the many families in the state that their children have been accused of being witches and wizards.

The wife on the 19th of December 2014 gave birth to triplet, and two months later she gave birth to another child, to make it four children, a very very complicated medical mystery that is still as a case studies for global medical scientists, two of their younger children were accused by a prophet of being responsible for their mother's predicament, and to worsen the case, after she gave birth, all their eight (8)children were accused of being possessed with an evil spirit.

The mother is only 26years, and I believe she might have gotten marriage when she was 12years old, now, their place of residents is indeed a heart-braking situation, feeding 10 people in such situation is extremely hard, but there is hope for them as I have vowed to give them a panoramic turnaround of their human dignity.....may God indeed preserve these innocent children-Amen.

OUR APPEAL
As an NGO that advocate for the right of children especially their educational development, we therefore call on Government, International Organizations, Philanthropists, Financial Institutions, etc to come for the aids of this family. It is the hope of the organizers that more organizations should sign in for the campaign to strengthen it. At the end of the day, there will be increased in funding to support youth entrepreneurs, increased in employability and increased in job creation and job opportunities for youth in the region. ISSUES IN GIRL-CHILD EDUCATION IN NIGERIA: IMPLICATIONS FOR LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SUPPORT

Girl-child education has become a matter of concern to stakeholders in Nigeria. This study examines the concept of and crucial issues in girl-child education. It identifies socio-cultural patterns, religious misconceptions, poverty, teenage pregnancy and early marriage amongst others as factors militating against the girl-child education. The paper advocates that public and school libraries must begin to play relevant roles and contribute to the eradication of discrimination against women. It outlines the roles public and school libraries must play in order to improve girl-child enrollment in school as well as reduce school drop-out. In order to effectively play their roles, the study suggests that libraries should source for funds from external agencies rather than depend only on their parent institutions/organizations. Key words: Girl-child; Education; School libraries; Public libraries; Nigeria.    In the traditional Nigerian society, there exists the deg...
